Comprehensive psychological evaluations involve gathering information from validated psychological tests, clinical interview, review of records, consultation with other professionals involved, and direct observation to assist in clarifying diagnosis and developing individualized treatment recommendations.
Our psychologists treat depression, anxiety, trauma, attention problems, self-esteem, life changes, learning differences and autism spectrum disorder in children and adolescents. We provide evidence-based therapy including play therapy and cognitive behavior therapy (CBT).
An autism evaluation assesses specific social and behavioral characteristics. The assessment will include measures of social communication, behavior, and social skills. We offer a full comprehensive diagnostic evaluation (CDE) that includes cognitive, educational, adaptive, social, emotional and behavioral functioning. Our psychologists are also trained in the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, 2nd Edition. (ADOS-2).
Gifted assessment includes the indivdual administration of a standardized intelligence test by a qualified psychologist. The results will include observations of the child, numerical data, and interpretation of results including strengths and weaknesses.
Emotional and Behavioral assessments including evaluation for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder may include cognitive assessment as well as executive functioning and social, emotional, and behavioral data gathered from several sources.
A psycho-educational evaluation assesses learning difficulties and may include measures of cognitive ability, attention, auditory and visual processing, oral and written language ability, fine and gross motor development, memory, executive functioning, visual-spatial ability, social, emotional, and behavioral, and academic skills.
A developmental assessment is used to determine a young child's developmental levels compared to their age level peers. Developmental tests assess adaptive, social-emotional, communication, motor and cognitive skills.
Our psychologists incorporate play therapy in our counseling for young clients. Play therapy helps children learn to identify, express and cope with feelings that they often can't articulate through traditional talk therapy. Older children may benefit from a combination of play and talk therapy.
Adolescence can be a difficult time to navigate due to the physical, social and emotional changes teens are experiencing. Talk therapy combined with specific activities and tools are used to help guide adolescents through crises, family conflict, depression, anxiety, academic difficulties and relationship issues.
We will work with you to find the best strategies to support family communication, parenting, and discipline that will best fit you, your child and your family's needs.
We provide collaboration and consultation with public and private schools to best support your child needs. Our licensed school psychologists can help you navigate and prepare for 504, IEP, and other school related meetings.
